I didn't post anything last week because the summer love posting had that lasting effect, I felt one more week would be alright for the readers out there. Anyway back to what is currently on my mind and the subject of this week's posting.

Today I am going to talk about the blues and the music that accompanies this feeling. The classic movie "Lady Sings the Blues," starring Diana Ross as the great Billie Holiday gave the audience a window to view the life and times of Lady Day. Billie Holiday was able to express herself through her music, and if you listen to her music you can almost feel her pain. Many other musicians have that ability to express their pain through their music, and when you listen to the lyrics and the music it somehow
transforms the pain to you. That is not to say that every time you listen to the blues this transformation occurs, no that's not it. What I am saying is that if if you are already down, feeling sad, going through a tough time, then the blues will have a greater effect on you.One might think that this music is always going to make you sad, no that is not the case the blues are about story telling, hearing a story that may not relate to you at all, but can be one hell of a story, and the music that comes with it down right soulful. There are times when I stay away from the blues because it brings my pain to light, and then there are times when I like to hear a good story to music. Anyway you look at it the blues ain't noting but a pain in your heart.

Sorry, dude, you lost me on this one. Blues singers have the most depressing history.. of course they were only experiencing what all of black america was feeling at that time! So when I hear that music... Yikes! that stuff could make me feel like ending it all if i was down enough to start with!
So tell me Chris is the state of Black America that much better that blues cannot apply, to current conditions?
Ah yes the blues ain't nothing but a pain in your heart, and if the message that is given by the music has you feeling depressed then as they say, "you got the blues,"
Outside of all the melancholy and morose feelings, it is story telling, try and look at it from that perspective, and not one that is personal.
