She Don't Love You Anymore

I heard a song the other day by Heather Headley called "the letter" from her debut album "In my mind." I know I have listened to this album many times, and this song must have played many times in the past, but for some reason when the song popped up during a random search I could not help myself listening to it over and over again.

The song is about a woman writing a letter to a now former lover, expressing her feelings about their dissolved relationship. The song clearly indicates that the woman is deeply hurt by the man's indiscretions. She really would like to say how she feels about him to his face, but she really can't stand the sight of this man.

Apparently she has regrouped and has freed herself from the love and tells him in the letter that he is free to see who he wants to see, because it won't be her she knows she could do better. This is forever, it's a shame you have to read it in a letter I am gone forever.

Many songs have been written about breakups, but for some reason, this song really left me with a strong impression of the hurt a woman goes through when her heart is broken. I have had my heart broken before, but as a man it was always at least for me a time to reflect on what went wrong and to pick up the pieces of your broken heart put them back together as quickly as you can and get back in the game.

A man's hurt cannot be seen, no matter how silly this decision may be, a man cannot linger on feelings that are no longer mutual. Eventually you get it together and you move on, but after listening to this song I really felt the hurt that a woman goes through when a man does her wrong. Because men camouflages their feelings so well, some men believe that the woman has those same capabilities and when the relationship comes to and end, men at times don't realize what a woman goes through to cleanse her soul and eliminate forget about the man that hurt her so bad.

I thought I was a worldly man, someone who knows so much, but listening to this song was a real learning experience in understanding the nuances of a woman.
